A superb way to explore the mighty
Himalayas - world's highest mountain range. The journey starts from Delhi to
the Himalayas of Kumaon and Garhwal. This region has been an important
centre for centuries with well-known pilgrim centres and the source of many
a rivers including the holy Ganges. Continue on to Himachal Pradesh -the
state in the Himalayas with its modern cities including Shimla (once the
summer capital of British India) to the tribal areas of Kinnaur and
Lahul-Spiti. Wide open spaces with strong wind blowing across your face
offering a breathtaking, bewitching scenery while you drive along different
landscapes on the mountain roads. A journey on the Manali -Leh road with the
killer Rohtang Pass evokes great emotions as one drives past the bleak
desert landscape of Ladakh through which the strategic Manali -Leh highway
and the old Hindustan -Tibat road passes. Ladakh is a particularly
challenging area where even a casual visit to a monastery or a remote
village settlement involves rewarding safaris. Driving past changing
landscapes, apple orchards, quaint villages and temples, the tribal
districts where the landscape contrasts starkly with the greenery seen
earlier, the Great Himalayan jeep safari is an unmatched experience.
