This fascinating journey will take you by
train from Delhi to Shimla the summer capital of the Raj where Victorian
architecture gives the town a distinctly British atmosphere. From Shimla
travel by car to the fertile Kullu valley noted for its colorful towns,
beautiful wooden temple and superb scenery. Continue on to the Kangra
Valley, one of the most scenic and unexplored area in Himachal Pradesh, and
from where it is possible to visit Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama,
Finally to Amritsar the holy city of the Skihs to see the beautiful Golden
Temple. In general the best time to visit this area is from September to mid
November and from mid March to May. However, these itineraries are totally
flexible and can be adjusted to suit the time of year.
Day 01 : Delhi to Shimla By train
Early
this morning transfer to the railway station to joint the Himalayan Queen
departing Delhi at 06.00 hrs. At Kalka you will be assisted by your driver
on to the narrow gauge mountain train departing at 11 : 40 hrs. and arriving
in Shimla at 16 : 55 hours or from Kalka proceed with your driver direct to
Shimla. You will be met on arrival by your and proceed to the Hotel.
Day 02 : Shimla
In Shimla to explore the town at your leisure. There are several walks in
the area an there are many places of interest in the town such as
Day 03 : Shimla to Katrain
Continue north to the fertile Kaklla Valley noted for its colorful town and
scenery.
Day 04 : Katrain
Some places of interest include Dhoogri Temple the Vashisht Springs, Naggar
and weather permitting the Rohtang Pass .
Day 05 : Katrain to Kangra Valley
Continue by car to the beautiful Kangra Valley
Day 06 : Kangra Valley
At leisure to enjoy the Kangra Valley this area is ideal for level treks
and walks, especially along the river Beas. There are many places of
interest which include Pragpur and Grail noted for their old houses.
Mcleodganj home of the Dali Lama the Kangra narrow gange railway and the
Kangra Front temple.
Day 07 : Amirtsar to Delhi
Morning visit the magnificent Golden Temple complex. Afternoon depart
Amritsar by train on the Shan-e Punjab Express at 14.25 hours arriving New
Delhi at 21:45 hrs.
