Bhutan is a Kingdom, which strictly
controls the number of visitors so that their way of life can be preserved.
Strong in tradition and charm, life is serene and full of spirituality for
the people. The rugged scenery, much of it covered by forest, dazzling
snow-capped mountains and beautiful rural landscapes, imprint themselves
upon the mind forever. This is soon felt by the visitor, who will feel drawn
back to the country after returning home.
Day 01 : Arrive Paro
Assembled
at IGI Airport to board Druk Air flight for Paro. The flight into Paro can
be truly described as a flight into fantasy. A first hand, close up view of
Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchejunga and other famous peaks become a reality. On
arrival you will be met by our representative and then drive to hotel to
freshen up and have lunch. After lunch to see the ruins of Drugyel Dzong,
the fort of the victorious drukpas, as it was here that the Tibetans were
defeated and driven back, though it is now ruins due to a fire. Drive back
to see the local shops, Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 02 : Paro to Thimphu
In the morning visit the National Museum which houses ancient weapons and
artifacts and housed in an ancient watchtower. You can get a good view of
the Paro Rimpung Dzong from here. Then drive to Thimpu (approx. 02hrs), the
Capital of Bhutan which lies at an elevation of 7,500 feet in a fertile
valley traversed by the Thimphu- Chhu river. Check in to hotel. Visit the
Great Memorial Chorten built in memory of his late Majesty, King lime Dorje
Wangchuk by his mother, the royal grandmother, the Tashichho Dzong in the
evening when the monks are in Punakha & National Assembly. A visit to
the handicrafts Emporium, to see the exquisite artistry of traditional
crafts and textiles. At leisure in town for shopping. Dinner and overnight
at hotel.
Day 03 : Thimphu to Punakha /Wangdi back to Thimphu
After an early breakfast drive over Dochula pass 3100 m where you can a
really beautiful view of the snow capped mountaintops to Punakha valley the
old capital of Bhutan. Here you can visit the dzong only when the monks are
in Thimphu and see the local town. Then a short drive takes you to the
wangdiphodrang valley just local shops. Then drive back to Thimphu. Dinner
and overnight at hotel.
Day 04 : Thimphu
Morning visit the National Library which hosts a vast collection of ancient
Buddhist
Manuscripts, the School of Thangkha Painting and the Traditional Medicine
Institute, Lunch. A visit to the Post office where you can a get a beautiful
collection of stamps. In the afternoon you could visit the Textile museum
and the Zangdopelri monsatery. Evening leisure. Dinner and overnight at
hotel.
